There are many benefits of using baking soda in livestock feed
- 2020-07-22-

The livestock and poultry feed additive baking soda (scientific name sodium bicarbonate), the chemical formula NaHCO3, can effectively improve the digestibility of livestock and poultry's feed, accelerate the utilization of nutrients and the discharge of harmful substances, and increase the rate of weight gain of livestock and poultry. The body's resistance and immunity of livestock and poultry are always kept in the best condition, and the improvement of anti-stress ability plays an important role in preventing livestock and poultry diseases and ensuring the healthy growth of livestock.

Tests have proved that adding proper amount of snowflake baking soda to dairy cow feed can help digestion, replenish energy, stabilize and increase milk production and prolong lactation. Adding 3‰-5‰ to broiler and layer feed can fatten 10 to 15 days in advance and increase egg production rate by 1.5%-2.5%.

According to "World Know" Japanese literature, adding baking soda can produce an average of 176 kg more milk per cow during the peak period of milk production, and the peak period lasts about 8 months. Feeding cattle with baking soda as additive feed can promote fattening and increase feed utilization. If 0.5% baking soda is used to feed beef cattle, the feeding period can be shortened by 50 days, the weight can reach 680 to 700 kg, and the feed utilization rate can be increased by 12%.

According to research in the United States, adding an appropriate amount of baking soda to the feed for pigs lacking lysine can compensate for the lack of lysine and increase the weight gain rate of pigs. According to Russian reports, using baking soda can not only increase pig weight, but adding baking soda to piglet feed can increase piglet's feed intake, increase daily weight gain by more than 9.5%, and increase piglet survival rate. After comparative experiments, the weight of one-month-old piglets increased by 0.5 kg compared with those without baking soda, 2.7 kg higher at 60 days, and 3.2 kg higher at 70 days. The survival rate of piglets is 5% higher than that of sows not fed with baking soda.

According to the experience of my country's Nanjing Kennel Association: Adding baking soda to the puppy's meals has the effect of rapid growth and development, strengthening the body and killing and eliminating some parasites in the body.
